My name is April Watson and I teach 3rd grade math and science here at Cheatham Park Elementary. I am really looking forward to getting to know your child this year and showing them the wonders of 3rd grade math and science!
I live in White House, TN with my 18 year old twins; my son Zion and my daughter Skyler and also with my dog and 3 cats=) I graduated with a BA in Elementary Education in 1997 from Southern Adventist University in Collegedale, TN. This year, the 2019-2020 school year, will be my 6th year in Robertson County and my 15th year of teaching.
I am passionate about building relationships with my students and creating an atmosphere of kindness and respect. I believe strongly in the Growth mindset. This is the belief that “a child’s most basic abilities can be developed through dedication and hard work--brains and talent are just the starting point. This view creates a love of learning and a resilience that is essential for great accomplishment” (Dweck, 2015)
I want students to realize they can do hard things, and if they say “I can’t do this” it should always be followed by, “yet!”
